Psyllium Seed Husks – a fibre for the digestion

Feed material for dogs and cats

Psyllium seed husks are a fibre for dogs and cats, it is a designated prebiotic, which means it can be further used by intestinal bacteria in the colon. In this way they support intestinal function.

The seed shells contain a very high proportion (20-30%) of mucilage. They also have a high ability to soak and to retain water, they can bind 4-5 times their own volume capacity of water. The shells have a better soaking ability than the whole seed due to their high content of soluble fibre.

Futtermedicus psyllium seed husks

The Futtermedicus psyllium seed husks are suited for dogs and cats. As an addition to ready-made food or self-cooked food. It is well accepted by dogs and cats.

1 level teaspoon = approx. 1 g; 1 level tablespoon = approx. 2.5 g

The amount should be slowly increased over 5-7 days, so that the intestine and the intestinal bacteria can get the most out of the fibres. If you give the essential final quantity from its beginning, the consistency of the faeces can become worse by the high content of fibre. The seed husks should swell with water in advance and be mixed well under the food.

The amount can be increased until maximum 2 teaspoons per 10 kg body weight per day. When the feaces soften, the individual limit is reached. The amount should then be reduced again by half a teaspoon.
