Slippery Elm Bark Powder – Feed material for dogs & cats
For thousands of years, elm bark has been used as a natural remedy to support stomach function. The elm bark powder is obtained from American red elms, the inner bark is dried for months. Besides dogs, cats and ferrets also benefit from the herbal ingredients of the powder. In addition to bitter substances and tanning agents, elm bark mainly contains mucilage, which produces a slimy substance when it comes into contact with water. For daily use, the ground bark is therefore mixed with water.
The resulting mucilage is very good for supporting the stomach function. It lines the stomach as a protective layer and thus supports the stomach lining in its digestive function.
Fields of application:
- stomach and intestinal function
- stomach acidity (smacking, prayer position, eating grass)
- digestion

Feeding advice:Mix 1 heaping teaspoon (2.5 g) with approx. 100 ml water in a pot. Bring to a boil briefly, remove from heat and continue stirring until the powder is completely dissolved. Allow to cool. If the brown slime is still too solid, you can add a little more water. Offer the slime either lukewarm on a plate or inject it directly into the mouth with a syringe (without a needle). The slime is better accepted if it is prepared fresh daily, but it can also be kept in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. It is best to store it in a syringe. Allow to warm up to room temperature before administering. |
