Marshmallow root (from real marshmallow) – Feed material for dogs & cats
The true marshmallow - Althaea officinalis - belongs to the mallow family and is characterised by its high content of mucilage. The mucilage content is particularly high in the root. Marshmallow root from the true marshmallow is used in cat and dog nutrition to support the stomach function and digestion in dogs and cats.
Whether you cook the cat or dog food yourself, or give BARF rations or ready-made food, you can add the marshmallow root to all feeding variants. The marshmallow root powder is stirred into plenty of cold water and left to stand for 1-4 hours so that the mucilage can dissolve. The high mucilage content in the decoction causes a protective layer to form on the mucous membranes.
Indications:
- stomach and intestinal function
- stomach overacidity (smacking, prayer posture, eating grass)
- digestion
In addition, marshmallow root decoction can be used to support the mucous membrane function in the mouth and throat area.
