Various prepared food that you can get from your veterinarian, qualifies as light food. A self-cooked diet is also well suited as a light diet with lean muscle meat, such as chicken or turkey breast, some cottage cheese and rice or potatoes. The light diet should be given in many small portions throughout the day, so that the digestive tract is not burdened too much.
It is also important to never feed the light food directly from the fridge, it should be served at room temperature or lukewarm. A non-mineralized light diet should not be given to a puppy for more than one week and not more than two weeks to an adult dog. If you want to feed your adult dog a light diet permanently, you should add a suitable mineral vitamin powder such as our Vitamin Optimix Cooking, as well as some oil for the supply of essential fatty acids and vegetables as a fiber source.
