Fat contents of meat varieties

For BARFing and cooking your own dog food or cat food, it is important to know that different kinds of meat have different fat contents. This influences the necessary feeding amount and thus the daily calorie intake. 

If there are health peculiarities, it may be necessary to look specifically at the fat content in the feed and possibly adjust it. Knowledge of the fat content in the various kinds of meat makes it easier to select the possible types.

This may be the case, for example, if animals are very sensitive to a higher fat content in their feed due to pancreatic problems. These animals should be fed meat varieties with very low fat content. If, on the other hand, protein has to be reduced in the ration for health reasons, for example, it is advisable to feed fattier types of meat so that sufficient calories can still be fed with a low protein intake.
