The consistency may vary depending on the batch and fat may deposit on the rim of the can.The meat juice that escapes during canning is part of the overall product, because meat naturally consists of 55 -75 % water. We have refrained from adding binders in order to offer you a product that is as close to nature as possible.
We are pleased to offer you our pure cans, made with meat WITHOUT bones and offal.
Please note that our canned meat sometimes has a very firm consistency and the cans contain liquid and possibly settled fat. This can make it somewhat difficult to remove the meat from the can. Nevertheless, the firmer consistency, the visible fat and the liquid are no ground for complaints.
What happens during the cooking process?
If finely chopped or minced meat is heated in a cooking vessel, the meat forms a hard, firm mass after a certain cooking time; in the process, the meat loses a proportion of its initial weight in the form of escaping liquid (meat stock).
In the case of canned production, this results in the formation of a core of very firm meat in the can, which may be surrounded by liquid.
Depending on the content of connective tissue in the processed meat (tendons and fascia, possibly cartilage from the adjacent joints, vessels), the product may be gelatinised during the cooking process or, in some cases, the meat stock in the cans may be partly liquid at room temperature. We recommend feeding the meat broth along with the meat.
Depending on the fat content of the meat, fat escapes during the cooking process. After cooling, the fat settles either at the very top or at the very bottom of the can. We recommend that you add the fat to the bowl. It is the all-natural fat part of the meat, which is eaten with pleasure and is usually well tolerated. If your pet needs a low-fat diet, simply use our lean varieties.
What does the analysis on the can say?
It is mandatory for wet feed to declare the analysis values of crude protein, crude fat, crude ash, crude fibre and moisture, which is why this data must be found on every can. The addition of water does not have to be declared on the can. This addition of water or broth sometimes reduces the protein content to about 10 - 12 %. Meat, on the other hand, has a protein content of between 16 and 27 % according to the Federal Food Code.
The low crude ash content of maximum 1.5 % in our cans shows that no bones are added.
In the following chart, we have listed the data for some types of meat from the "Bundeslebensmittelschlüssel" (Federal Food Code) as an example. The Federal Food Code is a database for the nutrient content of food. Among other things, the Federal Food Code also contains typical analyses for the above-mentioned raw nutrients for numerous foods. In the comparison you will find the data of our pure meat cans as well as the typical declaration of cans from other manufacturers.

What to do if you have received dented food cans?
We guarantee that we pack and ship flawless cans without dents as a matter of course. Due to the sorting system at our shipping service provider DHL, it can sometimes happen that a package falls up to 90 cm in the shipping route. Due to the forces inside the box when it hits the ground, the food cans can be compressed, causing the unwanted dents on the cans. Unfortunately, thicker cartons or other packaging materials do not reduce these dents, as the weight inside the box impacts the can. The outer cartons usually remain undamaged.
If you have received dented cans and cannot detect any opening on them, you can feed the contents without hesitation. It is important to know that when you open the can, the meat broth sprays out due to the excess pressure. This means that it is best to open the can over the sink.
